This class will provide a primer on ocean function, as well as changes to function stemming from pressing issues such as global climate change, ocean acidification, ocean warming, sea level rise, plastic pollution, overfishing, and invasive species. A solid understanding of how the world ocean works and humanity’s association with it is fundamental to the appreciation, preservation, utilization, and protection of marine environments worldwide.
