Der Artikel unternimmt eine vergleichende Analyse des Potlatsch bei den Haida und Tlingit und bei den Kwakiutl. In beiden Fällen entsprechen die Grundrelationen des Potlatsch - Übertragung und Vermittlung - den Grundrelationen der Verwandtschaft - Filiation und Heiratsallianz. Diese Entsprechung beschränkt sich nicht auf die Sphäre des Tausches, sondern betrifft die Reproduktion der Gruppe selbst, die notwendig der Perspektive der Anderen bedarf. Der Tausch ist nur ein Aspekt einer grundlegenden Umkehrung der Perspektiven, in deren jeweiliger Form sich die Architektur des sozialen Raums manifestiert. The article analyzes the relational logic common to ritual and matrimonial organization on the American North West Coast. Starting from a correspondence between the basic relations of the potlatch - transmission and mediation - and of kinship - filiation and alliance - we examine the different configurations of these relations among the Haida/Tlingit and among the Southern Kwakiutl, as well as their spatial expression in ritual architecture. We argue that the principle of this common logic consists in a fundamental inversion of perspectives, which is not restricted to the sphere of exchange between kinship groups, but equally governs the constitution and reproduction of the groups themselves.
