Live feeds of Aquaculture importance : An inherent part for Seed Production of Marine Ornamentals Fishes

In marine fish breeding, the larval stages of many fishes are critical due to their small mouth gape and changes in feeding habit. Microalgae are unicellular phytoplankton which have less than 10 μ size. Among the different live feeds micro algae Nanocloropsis occulata, Chlorella salina, C. marina,...

Rotifers isolated can be cultured in 25 to 30 ppt water using micro algae or yeast as feed and mass scale production can be done using yeast and rice bran. Artemia nauplii are being produced through decapsulation of artemia cysts and the nauplii thus obtained can be harvested and cultured in seawater using micro algae as feed. It is recommended that adequate nutrition has an important role in the reproductive success of all animals including fish and it has been shown that essential fatty acids, vitamin (A,E and C), trace minerals and b-and other carotenoids can affect fecundity, egg quality, hatchability and larval quality.
