Antarctic Chieftain was en route to Port Louis, Mauritius. At 0850, a fire alarm for the engine room was activated. Two crew entered with breathing apparatus and extinguished a small fire, near the burner for the boiler, with a dry powder extinguisher. Fuel shut offs were activated as a precaution and the ship blacked out. The vessels quarter overhung the wharf and contacted the concrete wharf edge.
