Leucascus lobatus sp. nov. differs from L. neocaledonicus by having much bigger spicules, and from L. soyo by having an atrial skeleton composed of triactines and tetractines of the same types as those of the choanosome, and not of special atrial tri- and tetractines as in L. soyo.
