Twenty species of parasites belonging to six major taxonomic groups were found and identified: 4 Protozoa, 2 Cestoidea, 8 Trematoda, 4 Nematoda, 1 Acanthocephala, and 1 Crustacea. Differences in species composition and degree of infestation indicated that the different populations of American plaice were infested with parasite species which are peculiarto their geographic origin.
