Summary: | Abstract. Vertical and geographic variability profiles of various ozone−related chemical species are derived from analysis of data acquired by the SAFIRE/A limb− scanning far infrared emission FT spectrometer operating from stratospheric aircraft during the APE−GAIA campaign. The SAFIRE/A spectrometer, operating in the 123 − 125 cm−1 and 22 − 23.5 cm−1 spectral bands, detects O3, ClO, N2O, HNO3, HCl and H2O. VMR vertical profiles of such species retrieved during flight cover a latitude range extending from mid latitude regions to well inside polar vortex. Chemical processes involving Ozone inside the polar vortex are evidenced in the presented data by correlation of the VMR profiles of Ozone and chemically active species like HNO3 and ClO. |
