THE PALAEOMAGNETISM OF SOME TERTIARY IGNEOUS ROCKS FROM UBEKENDT EJLAND

Summary: | Paleocene intrusive rocks were found to be magnetically unstable, but six lavas, some 64 years old, yielded stable magnetic directions cor-responding to a pole position at 54 N 152 W. The precision of the palaeomagnetic and radiometric determinations are inadequate to distinguish age differences between these rocks and those of the North Atlantic Tertiary Province but a small difference of some 5 million years is suspected. |
