Following the isobath along the slopes and ridges, it forms7 a cyclonic circulation cell in each topographic basin in the Arctic Ocean. The8 reproduction of this cyclonic circulation in numerical models is one of the9 basic features expected from Arctic modeling. Numerous ice-ocean Arctic10 models, however, produce different results concerning this circulation. The11 numerical experiments presented in this paper are aimed at obtaining cy-12 clonic circulation of the Atlantic Water on the basis of a single numerical model.13 Our model study reveals that increased horizontal resolution can improve14 the circulation pattern, while a lower resolution version of this model ben-15 efits from parameterizations of subscale processes.
