Summary: | A series of synthetic models, simulating varying scenarios of hydrate distribution in the pores, showed potential for utilizing amplitude versus offset (AVA) from multicomponent data for quantifying potential hydrocarbons when encountering a Bottom Simulating Reflector (BSR). Using a 4C dataset acquired over an inferred gas hydrate location in the Norwegian Sea, it has been established a link between observations made in the synthetic data and the real data. This was obtained utilizing a hybrid rock physics modeling approach, combining contact cementation theory (CCT) and effective medium theory (EMT). |
