It occupies an area about 10 m on a side and is without vegetation. The region lacks prominent landmarks, and the raised beaches are sandy and subject to wind erosion and sand drift. During the early summer visit, only the knoll, where the camp appears to have been, was exposed. The beach-face ramp and the adjacent gullies were still entirely filled with snow and ice.
