Chum salmon is a dominant pelagic fish in the Bering Sea during summer and fall especially after pink salmon have moved to coastal areas for spawning. The present research is designed to investigate 1) the stock composition and abundance of Asian and Alaskan chum salmon in the Bering Sea, 2) their seasonal migration route and timing, and 3) factors affecting the oceanic distribution and abundance of each regional stock.
