Summary:Ordovician System and base of the lowest Ordovician stage (Tremadocian) is exposed in the coastal platform at Green Point, western Newfoundland, at the 101.8 m level, within Bed 23, in the measured section (Lower Broom Point Member, Green Point Formation), coin-ciding with the first appearance of the conodont Iapetognathus fluctivagus Nicoll, Miller, Nowlan, Repetski and Ethington, 1999, and 4.8 m below the ear-liest planktic graptolites.
