Description
Summary:Abstract: In consideration of its national and regional characteristics, China needs to develop countermeasure techniques that allow the extensive use and diffusion of Bio-Eco Engineering, a hybrid technique of Bio-engineering, as biotreatment engineering, and Eco-engineering, as ecological engineering. More specifically, the following five tasks are principally necessary: Survey on generation status of toxic cyanobacteria in lakes in many areas that greatly differ in climatic conditions, such as the temperate zone, the subtropical zone and the subarctic zone; Development of an environmental restoration technique using animacules and other microorganisms that prey on toxic cyanobacteria; Investigation of the wastewater characteristics of the pollution sources of dispersed household wastewater in watershed areas, which is the major cause of eutrophication; Development of techniques for dispersed wastewater treatment as a measure against pollution sources, such as advanced Johkasou System for treating domestic wastewater, and soil treatment methods; and Development of water culture methods and ecological engineering techniques that allow use of large aquatic vegetation, such as artificial wetlands.
