The polar view mode means that GOME is observing with a zenith angle of about 135 degrees in the azimuth direction of the Poles. Results are shown for height-resolved ozone densities in both troposphere and stratosphere. Special attention is paid to the polar view GOME observations of 1996 at the Antarctic region. 1. The early TOMS/SBUV instruments measured the backscattered radiation for several frequencies, resulting in an accurate estimate of the total column densities of ozone.
