Summary:incidental harassment authorization under section 101(a)(5)(D) of the Marine Mammal Protection Act. BP is seeking authorization to take small numbers of marine mammals by harassment incidental to a seismic survey in the Simpson Lagoon area of the Alaskan Beaufort Sea during the 2012 Arctic open-water season. The Commission also has reviewed the National Marine Fisheries Service’s 1 May 2012 notice (77 Fed. Reg. 25830) announcing receipt of the application and proposing to issue the authorization, subject to certain conditions.
