The pressure altitude is even higher, exceeding 5000 m. The location has many unique features which make it a desirable site for cosmic ray observations. A large IQSY neutron monitor at Dome A would be the highest monitor in the world and would have the lowest energy cutoff (both atmospheric and geomagnetic) of any such monitor.
