A Message from the Chairman: It is my pleasure to introduce this publication that summarizes the topics and issues currently being addressed by the Council. I believe that this synopsis will be a valuable reference document for stakeholders familiar with the Council process, as well as those who have not yet engaged in the process. For each issue, background information is provided along with a status report on upcoming Council action. The North Pacific Fishery Management Council has a strong record of responsible stewardship using a scientifically‐based, transparent, and deliberative process with public input incorporated into decision‐making. In February, the Council reaffirmed its commitment to continue to seek ways to enhance stakeholder involvement in the management of our fisheries.
