Description
Summary:Abstract-Sources of variation in the relative spleen weight have been studied in small mammals (Rodentia: Muridae, Cricetidae; Insectivora: Soricidae) from the Ural and Fennoscandian forest ecosystems differing in the level of industrial pollution (2004)(2005)(2006)(2007)(2008)(2009)(2010). Formal threshold indices for the diagnosis of splenomegaly in rodents and shrews have been proposed and substantiated. Effects of several factors on the probability of sple nomegaly have been estimated, and the "normal spleen" index has been determined.
