A total of 22 species of mammals including three domestic animals have been confirmed within the reserve's boundaries. Harrat al-Harrah is important for wildlife, including eight species of native carnivores, the Arabian Wolf Canis lupus, the Striped Hyena Hyaena hyaena, and the Caracal Felis caracal being among them. Kurzfassung: Das 12.150 km2 groBe Schutzgebiet von Harrat al-Harrah in Nord-Saudiarabien wurde 1986 in einer Hiigellandschaft aus Basaltfeldern, Kiesebenen und schiitter bewachsenen Wadis eingerichtet. Die Nachweise von S!1ugern zwischen 1991 und 1996 werden zusammengestellt; in diesem Zeitraum wurden Bestandserhebungen und Fange durchgefiihrt. Insgesamt konnten innerhalb der Reservatsgrenzen 22 S!1ugerarten nachgewiesen werden, wobei es sich bei drei von ihnen urn Haustiere handelt. Harrat al-Harrah erwies sich als ein fiir S!1uger sehr wichtiges Gebiet, in dem z.B. 8 verschiedene Arten von Carnivoren vorkommen, darunter der Wolf Canis lupus, die Streifenhyane Hyaena striata, und der Karakal Felis caracal.
