Summary: | Introduction A floating structure located in an offshore environment is subjected to a variety of continuously varying dynamic loads due to wind, current, drifting sea ice, and earthquake. Very little attention has been focused on the earthquake induced response of the floating structure, the amplification/attenuation characteristics of the surrounding fluid medium, and the related fluid-structure interaction effects. The static analysis of structures surrounded by water is an uncoupled one since both the fluid and the structure can be tested in isolation, whereas in the case of dynamic analysis, the interaction between the fluid medium and the structure makes the problem a coupled one. However, there are different degrees of coupled interaction |
