Exemple d’application 3D en archéologie préventive : la restitution des galeries souterraines des pentes de la Croix-Rousse à Lyon

International audience In 2008 an ensemble of underground galleries, known since the 50s and called “en arêtes de poisson”, was the object of an archeological survey prior to the construction of a new lane in the tunnel of “Croix Rousse” in Lyon. The conception of a 3D model proved out to be quite helpful for archeologists as far as their comprehension of that complicated architectural construction went. The goal of this 3D model was to restitute the original state of the galleries. The digital model came as a result of a close collaboration between archaeologists and the computer graphics designer and it was based on topography plans and measurements taken on the site. A series of different hypothesis was put together in order to produce a restitution of the space and communication system. As a result this restitution allowed researchers to understand the different functions of that extraordinary architectural ensemble. En 2008 à Lyon, un ensemble de galeries souterraines, connu depuis la fin des années 1950 et dit “en arêtes de poisson”, a fait l’objet d’un diagnostic archéologique, en préalable au percement d’un nouveau tube au tunnel de la Croix-Rousse. La conception d’une maquette en 3D a permis aux archéologues d’accompagner leur réflexion scientifique sur cette infrastructure complexe. L’objectif de la modélisation était de restituer l’état initial du réseau. Le modèle numérique a été élaboré grâce à une collaboration étroite entre les archéologues et l’infographiste, à partir de plans topographiques complétés par des mesures de terrain et des données d’archives. Différentes hypothèses ont pu être visualisées, pour donner naissance à une restitution permettant de mieux appréhender les fonctions de cet ouvrage à l’architecture originale et jusqu’à présent unique
