International audience Intertextuality was initially defined in the literary field as a principle of recovery of text samples from utterances to utterances. It appears to play a leading role in the reading and writing of texts, be they literary, pragmatic or specialised. As far as reading is concerned, intertextuality entails perusing so-called parallel texts or even previous translations and the originals they are derived from. Such reading helps translators to contextualise the texts to be translated and makes it easier for them to understand them. I shall focus on intertextuality and its implementation in the translation process and refer for this purpose to a pedagogical situation where students from a translation workshop were asked to translate pages and excerpts from the International Polar Year website. Initialement définie dans le champ des études littéraires, l’intertextualité, principe de reprise de fragments textuels au fil des énonciations, régit tant la lecture que l'écriture des textes, qu'ils soient littéraires, pragmatiques ou spécialisés. Sur le volet lecture, l'intertextualité se manifeste par la consultation de textes parallèles, voire de traductions antérieures et des textes originaux dont elles sont issues. Cette lecture contribue à la contextualisation du texte à traduire et en facilite de ce fait la compréhension. Nous aborderons la traduction comme un champ privilégié d'application de la notion d'intertextualité, en nous fondant sur une expérience pédagogique réalisée dans le cadre d'un atelier de traduction de niveau Master 1, où nous avons demandé aux étudiants de traduire des sections du site de l'Année polaire internationale et notamment des extraits du programme de cette manifestation scientifique ainsi que des blogs.
