The rearing in marshes, ideas for the future

National audience The Atlantic marshes, extended from the Loire to the Arcachon basin and located on the surface of European eel distribution, took advantage of a natural abundance of this species for a long time , with biomasses going up to 600 kg/ha. A traditional activity of fishing and extensive rearing have been developed there since their origin. Forsaken because of the rarefaction of eels, the author proposes to consider this exploitation in order to limit keeping up on wild stock. Les marais atlantiques, étendus de la Loire au bassin d'Arcachon et situés sur l'aire de répartition de l'anguille européenne, ont longtemps bénéficié d'une surabondance naturelle de cette espèce, avec des biomasses allant jusqu'à 600 kg/ha. Une activité traditionnelle de pêche et d'élevage extensif s'y est développée depuis leur origine. Délaissée à cause de la raréfaction de l'anguille, l'auteur propose de repenser cette exploitation afin d'économiser le prélèvement sur le stock sauvage.
