description International audience The paper presents a methodological sketch for a building and organizing environmental database, with a case study of the Barents Sea. A specialized database summarizing the available materials and data on the geographical and environmental characteristics of the study region is being created. The derived and captured data enable comparative environmental assessments, as well as mathematical GIS modeling of the geospatial layers within the database. Organizing all data in a single database allows editing information in a real time regime, as well as to find and correct errors, to adjust the modelling process. This brief paper contributes towards the development of optimal algorithms of data structuring and organizing in a database. Работа представляет методическую разработку по организации экологической базы данных на примере акватории Баренцева моря. На основе экологической информации создается специализированная база данных, обобщающая имеющиеся материалы о географических и экологических характеристиках изучаемого региона. Полученные обобщающие данные обеспечивают выполнение сравнительных экологических оценок, а также возможность математического ГИС-моделирования. Организация данных в единой базе позволяет редактировать информацию в режиме реального времени, находить и исправлять ошибки, корректировать процесс моделирования.
