Description
Summary:United States Air Force (USAF) MAJ Kyle Twenter served on multiple deployments to Iceland, Puerto Rico, El Salvador, Sicily, Greece, Spain and Afghanistan from 2002 through 2011 in support of the Global War on Terror (GWOT). In this July 2012 interview, MAJ Twenter discusses his transition from the US Navy to the Air Force, the differences between the P-3 and the C-130, and his various deployments around the world over nine years. MAJ Twenter concludes his interview with the observation, "I think it's going to take a long time for the GWOT to really play out and to see the real effects. I think in many years, we're going to look back on this era here of Afghanistan and Iraq and we're going to be able to say that we've done a really good thing here. Who knows, maybe the Arab Spring that's taking place, maybe that never would have happened had Iraq and Afghanistan ever even happened and what's to come for this part of the world, it's all to be determined. I think largely, we don't know how big of an impact it's going to have. It's going to take 50 years. Hopefully, I'll be around to read all of the magazines and newspapers and see what they think in 50 years about this stuff."
