Arctic Warfare lessons learned showed failure of the U.S. Army by identifying shortfalls in equipping, operating and surviving during combat operations in an arctic environment. This paper will discuss the current level of training all Soldiers and leaders need to have before executing combat operations in arctic conditions. It will also discuss the current level of standard Arctic training taught today. I will discuss the most current operations in Afghanistan during the winter months. In detail, I will discuss the effects of one Infantry platoon conducting combat operations against the Taliban and who would have the upper hand.
