While the approach advocated aligns with systems established for individual ‘sites’, the framework for cultural landscapes is, in general, concerned with sizeable spatial areas. Implement strategies and actions that ensure the ongoing care of the cultural landscape in accordance with an approved management plan. Disseminate and share information on the significance, values, attributes, and stories of the cultural landscape, and in particular with those communities living within or nearby to the place, as well as to visitors including tourists. The shadow of climate and ecological crisis – evidenced in rising sea level, ocean acidification, reforestation, wildfire and other severe weather events, and species loss – are now central to heritage concepts of care, safeguarding, custodian-ship, and inheritance of heritage places and landscapes.
