Description
Summary:This public-use microdata tape is the third available using Canadian Family Expenditure Survey data. The survey was carried out in February and March 1985 and refers to calendar year 1984. The Survey of Family Expenditure of 1984 is the first since 1982. The 1984 was designed to provide information for families and unattached individuals (spending units) living in private households in seventeen major cities of Canada as well as Whitehorse and Yellowknife. In contrast, the coverage of the 1982 survey included the ten provinces of Canada as well as Whitehorse and Yellowknife. For confidentiality reasons, data from Whitehorse and Yellowknife were excluded from the 1982 tape. Users should note that data on detailed food expenditure for 1984 were collected in a separate survey (see Statistics Canada Catalogue Number 62-554). The Food Survey had the same coverage as the Family Expenditure Survey of 1984. A public use tape has been produced of the Family Food Expenditure Survey. Records from Charlottetown and Summerside have been excluded from both 1984 tapes.
