Tujuan penelitian ini meliputi: 1) Mengidentifikasi objek, daya tarik serta potensi wisata yang terdapat di Kabupaten Lampung Barat; 2) Mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor internal dan eksternal dalam mengembangkml wisata di Kabupaten Lampung Barat; 3) Merumuskan strategi pengembangan pariwisata di Kabupaten Lampung Barat. Analisis yang digunakan dalmll penelitian ini adalah mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor internal dml eksternal serta penyusunan strategi pengembmlgan pariwisata melalui pelibatan stakholders terkait. Analisis faktor internal dan ekstenal pengembangan pariwisata meliputi: manajemen, pemasaran, investasi, potensi, kondisi sosial, teknologi dan informasi, kondisi ekonomi dan ke1embagaan kepariwisataan, persaingan sektor pariwisata dengan daerah lain, kondisi a1am, kondisi perekonomian. Pengumpulan data di1akukml dengan teknik wawancara dengan menggunakan kuesioner. Adapun hasil pene1itian me1iputi: 1) Potensi Pariwisata Kabupaten Lampung Barat; Tourism in Lampung Barat Regency has the potential to be developed. Tourist visits In Lampung Barat Regency increased progressively, and in the year 2006, this visit reached level of 26 065 people. Analysis results showed that the great attraction capacity of the existing tourism objects created the tourist's desire to visit although the location of the tourism object is far and remote, and transportation facilities is not maximal yet. For the purpose of supporting the development of seven enchantments of tourism, there had been identification of internal key factors which had the highest strength scores, namely natural tourism potential, culture and history, where those potencies could be developed as very heterogeneous tourism objects. This could be shown by weigh value as large as 0.312, with rating 4 and score as large as 0.528. Internal factors which had the largest weakness score were the limited availability of infrastructures and the unavailability of tourism objects which had been developed professionally, with weight of 0.106 and rating of2.286, so that the score came to 0.243. External key factor which provided the greatest opportunity for West Lampung tourism development was the presence of tourism awareness group within the community which was expected to be able to support the development of existing tourism. This was shown by the largest score value possessed by this external key factor, namely 0.619 with weight of 0.155 and rating of 4. External factor which created the largest threat for tourism was the potency of invasion by foreign culiure. This was shown by weight value of 0.151, with rating of 2.190 and score of 0.330. Based on QSP matrices, strategy priority order of tourism development strategy was obtained which was based on Seven Enchantments of Tourism and Culture Department, namely: policy of infrastructure development and enhancement of funding for local culture development; improvement of people's welfare with local economy development; enhancement of government role in tourism development; technology enhancement in the development of tourism objects and development of seven enchantments in Lampung Barat Regency; guidance to the people for improving traditional arts and culture; guidance for local community to be involved directly in tourism services and maintenance of environment and resources.
