Battery covered by sand hill. 5. Apparently a Battery- behind the hill. 6. Work- recently commenced: A battery of some strength. Encampment. 7. Work- recently finished: Apparently a Mortar Battery. 8. Morris Island Headquarters 9. Iron-Clad Battery- Three heavy guns probably Columbiads. Line of fire makes an angle of 49 degrees with gorge of Fort Sumter. 10. Battery- not quite complete, Sole of Embrasures seem to slope to the rear. Four casemate top carriages on the beach are probably intended for this work. Line of fire makes an angle of fifty-two degrees with the gorge of Fort Sumter.
