After browsing through the literature, topics on krill link to ice, their depth distribution or krill ecology in different trajectories, interestingly, despite having flows of new findings it seems that almost 100 years of krill research the view on these topics in the end have not changed much. One good example is the myth “krill (adults and Larvae) feeding on ice algae during mid-winter”. The majority of observations at this time of the year do not support this view for adult krill and also on larvae it is not conclusive. However, when it comes to hypothesis on krill overwintering the community tends to omit these facts. Why?? In this talk I outline these almost contrasting views, try to find explanations why myths and legends are so resistant in the science community and that this fact strongly impede opening new avenues in krill research and funding opportunities.
