Mr. Richards discusses panning for gold in the river as well as the names of those who lived along the riverbanks. Many early inhabitants are mentioned by name and trade including; fur traders, H.B.C men (Hudson's Bay Company Employees), tradesmen, etc. Recreation is also discussed including: the football team, the Bill Day moose team and the curling rink. Mr. Richards tells that Louis Menard farmed the first wheat to be exported from Athabasca Mr. Richards was too old to be interviewed (approximately 90 years), much information is lost because of memory lapses.
