Description
Summary:The automatic weather stations at the Australian stations (Casey, Davis, Macquarie Island, and Mawson) were installed by the Bureau of Meteorology. They collect information on the following (in the following units): date Time hh:mm wind speed knots wind direction degrees air temperature degrees celsius relative humidity percent air pressure hPa Times are in UT. Measurements are made at 4 metres. The fields in this dataset are: date time (hh:mm) wind speed (knots) wind direction (degrees) air temperature (degrees celsius) relative humidity (percent) air pressure (hPa) More current data are provided at the AWS data page at the provided URL. A download file is available from the provided URL which provides information about the locations where wind measurements at Casey have been made. The information was provided to David Smith of the Australian Antarctic Data Centre by Phil Smart of the Hobart office of the Bureau of Meteorology in February 2009. David added the coordinates and the information about their origin.
