Description
Summary:Progress Code: completed Maintenance and Update Frequency: asNeeded Statement: Digitised Echolistener acoustic data is logged and stored as binaries in its generic .eld format. These .eld files can be converted to .ek5 format to be viewable by our custom designed Echo software. These .ek5 datafiles are registered with our Echo/Oracle database; raw files are broken up into binaries of the various data types and stored in our generic .dat format. Saxon Progress was the industry catcher vessel working in tandem with the Southern Surveyor during the July-August 1999 orange roughy research voyage at St Helens Hill and St Patricks Head. The acoustic system comprised a Sonardata Echolistener unit that digitised and recorded the output of the Furuno 28kHz commercial fisheries sounder. Related datasets: Demersal trawl data collected by the Saxon Progress during the survey; Acoustic and biological data collected by the Southern Surveyor during this same survey period - see separate Marlin entry.
