Analysis, data processing and quality control by O&A (formerly CMAR and Division of Fisheries and Ocenaography) Hydrochemistry Group. Credit CSIRO Fisheries, CSIRO Oceanography, CMAR, O&A and Marine National Facility (MNF). Credit This dataset was processed by Hydrochemistry Group (O&A Flagship). The O&A Hydrology data set includes data collected during the voyages of Australia's Marine National Facility, and of various CSIRO marine research vessels and coastal stations. Hydrology usually consists of salinity and nutrient values obtained by analysing water samples taken at several depths at each station. The subset extracted for MARVL contains data on the continental shelf as defined by the 200 metre depth contour from the 2012 Bathymetric dataset merged (spatial union) with the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) in the Australian Maritime Boundary dataset (http://www.ga.gov.au/metadata-gateway/metadata/record/gcat_63565) available from Geosciences Australia (GA). This subset of the data contains 2,555 Hydrology station records from 78 surveys and includes temperature, pressure and salinity and spans from 1995 to the present. The full data set is held in the O&A Information & Datacentre Data Warehouse, which currently holds over 31,796 Hydrology station records from more than 601 surveys collected since 42. This data includes temperature, pressure and salinity, and may also include any or all of nitrate, nitrite, oxygen, phosphate, silicate and ammonia. Individual metadata records have been created for each research voyage.
