Readings ("raw" data files) are averaged up to 1-minute, have been archived and are available on request from BOM. The data files attached here have been QC'd. QC processing has entailed performing the following checks: 1)physical bounds test 2)time sequential/duplicate test 3)land-sea test 4)platform speed test 5)SST climatology test. Credit Australia’s Integrated Marine Observing System (IMOS) is enabled by the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS). It is operated by a consortium of institutions as an unincorporated joint venture, with the University of Tasmania as Lead Agent. Credit Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) Enhancement of Measurements on Ships of Opportunity (SOOP)-Sea Surface Temperature (SST) aims to supply near real-time SST data (within 24 hours) from SOOPs and research vessels in the Australian region. The data files contain SST underway observations from an SBE 38 sensor installed in a seawater intake collected on trips of a French research and Antarctic resupply vessel participating in the Australian Volunteer Observing Fleet (RV L'Astrolabe - FHZI) between Hobart (Tasmania) and Dumont D'Urville (Antarctica). The voyages take place during the Austral summer. The data are 1-minute averaged measurements. The data have been quality controlled by the Bureau of Meteorology and available in delayed mode.
