Description
Summary:Maintenance and Update Frequency: asNeeded Statement: Original field data. Processed data are SV corrected, tide not corrected and edited using CARIS version 11.4.3 Credit Data collected on the Marine National Facility (MNF) RV Investigator voyage IN2024_V02. The MNF must be acknowledged in all outputs derived from Data and/or Samples collected by, or with support from, the MNF. Acknowledge the MNF in outputs with the statement: “We acknowledge the use of the CSIRO Marine National Facility (https://ror.org/01mae9353 ) in undertaking this research.” Acknowledgment and citations should be in all forms of publication including presentations (where the acknowledgement should be on the closing slide), journals, books, reports and related research outputs. This record describes multibeam echosounder data collected on RV Investigator voyage IN2024_V02, "SOTS: Southern Ocean Time Series automated moorings for climate and carbon cycle studies southwest of Tasmania." The voyage took place between March 31, 2024 and April 19, 2024 (AEST), departing from Hobart and returning to Hobart. The Kongsberg EM710 MKII multibeam echosounder was used to acquire seafloor bathymetry and backscatter information and watercolumn backscatter between Hobart and Southern Ocean Time Series mooring. The EM710 MKII provides a 0.5° by 1° transmit and receive angular resolution respectively. The echosounder's nominal frequency range is from 40 to 100 kHz. Data are stored in *.all raw format for bathymetry and backscatter and *.wcd format for watercolumn backscatter at CSIRO. There are 31 files totaling 5.87 GB of raw bathymetry and backscatter and 31 files totaling 39.5 GB of raw watercolumn backscatter data in this dataset. Sound velocity profiles were applied to this data during data acquisition. Bathymetry data contained in *.all format are corrected for motion and position. GPS tide was computed using the EGM2008 model and applied to the processed data. Processed data has had outliers removed. Processed line data are available in *.gsf ...
