Credit Data collected on the Marine National Facility (MNF) RV Investigator voyage IN2023_E03. The MNF must be acknowledged in all outputs derived from Data and/or Samples collected by, or with support from, the MNF. Acknowledge the MNF in outputs with the statement: “We acknowledge the use of the CSIRO Marine National Facility (https://ror.org/01mae9353 ) in undertaking this research.” Acknowledgment and citations should be in all forms of publication including presentations (where the acknowledgement should be on the closing slide), journals, books, reports and related research outputs. This record describes sub bottom profiler data collected on RV Investigator voyage IN2023_E03, titled "Trials & Calibrations", which was segmented into 3 legs, departing Hobart on September 13 and ending in Sydney on September 30, 2023. Leg 1 (Hobart to Hobart) took place between 13-16 Sep, Leg 2 (Hobart to Hobart) between 16-25 Sep and Leg 3 (Hobart to Sydney) between 26-30 Sep. The Kongsberg SBP120 (sub bottom profiler) was used to acquire data containing the specular reflections at different sediment interfaces below the seafloor. The SBP120 provides a 3° by 3° angular resolution. The echosounder's frequency sweep range is from 2.5 to 7 kHz. The SBP120 was logged for the majority of the transit segments of the voyage. Data are stored in *.raw (543 files 11.6 GB) raw and *.seg (539 files 11.5 GB) segy formats at CSIRO. The segy format data had a real-time processing stream applied, which applies gain, a gain correction and a matched filter with replica shaping (typically in depths >200m) or a bandpass filter (typically in depths <200m). Instantaneous amplitude and time variable gain were not applied on acquisition. Additional information regarding this dataset is contained in the GSM data acquisition and processing report.
