Description
Summary:Progress Code: completed Statement: Most foot-accessible areas of Stillwell Hills were visited and many isolated outcrops/islands were visited via helicopter. Raw GPS data includes survey routes. In-field collection and storage of GPS positions with tagged attributes, post-processed against GPS base to provide differential position fixes, export as Arcview shapefiles and attribute tables. Post-processed GPS positions to sub-metre accuracy. Attributes assigned in the field based on current conditions and appearances. Taxonomy to be added after identification. Attributes accurate at the time of survey/sampling. The broadscale distribution of flora (lichens, mosses, non-marine algae)and fauna (penguins, flying birds, seals)in the Stillwell Hills was mapped using GPS technology. Samples of flora were collected for taxonomic identification. Data were recorded and catalogued in shapefiles.
