A young serving woman dressed in a dark Prussian blue kimono with ornately decorated brown obi stand in the center f the composition holding a tray with a small dish. To her left is a lit standing lamp and a low table with food, likely the specialty icefish mentioned in the title. Behind her is her a plain of pink and green gradient terminating in an abstract cloud pattern. Beyond the cloud border is a seascape scene of Tsukuda Oki, small fishing vessels and large sailing ships dock a night along the shore. Various red streaks can be seen at the horizon marking the firelight used by the fishing vessels.
