Ideated and orientated by brothers Naim and Sami Frashëri, it started to be published on August 10th 1884 in Istanbul (Turkey). During the years 1884-1885, there were published 12 issues with 16 pages each. “Drita” - “Dituria” magazine circulated after the weekly “Ifoni this Alvania” (Voice of Albania) of Anastas Kullurioti (1879-1880) and along with “Fjamuri Arbërit” of De Rada (1883-1887).Sublime Porte allowed this monthly magazine to be published constrained by escalation and severing of controversies between the government of Istanbul and that of Athens and by fear of the armed uprising of Albanians against Istanbul, boosted from certain Greek circles; the chaos created by the extension and re-coordination of the Albanian National Movement among Bucharest, Istanbul and Albanian centers in the fatherland, in the north of which (Lumë and Gjakova, Peja and Ferizaj, Tetovo etc.) the fights continued. Naim and Sami Frasheri ideated the “Everlasting Learning Letter”, and also, they authored a number of writings. They, along with Jani Vreto, Pandeli Sotiri and Koto Hoxhi, targeted and managed to expand the problem span of the magazine. For ideas and problems it used to lay down, the magazine was submitted to censorship, because, as Sami Frasheri wrote to De Rada on February 20th, 1881, “Turks do not want the awakening of Albanians”, neither “the propagation of the national idea of the Albanian people.” And one day, when Jelldis Corner lost patience (as the magazine, apparently calm, rose feelings of the readers, tempered their will and desire for liberation from the Ottoman oppression), made the firm decision “Jasak.” The magazine was banned in after its 12th issue.
