As a heritage of the Ottoman period culture in Albania are about 430 inscriptions in Arab writing that have been carefully collected, transliterated and translated by the well-known Albanian Orientalist, Vexhi Buhara. These inscriptions are found in the cities of: Berat, Durrës, Kavajë, Peqin, Tiranë, Elbasan, Gjirokastër, Libohovë, Tepelenë, Përmet, Vlorë, Krujë, Lezhë and Shkodër. Written on the tiles of lime-stones, on the marble tiles or colons, on plastered parts, on wood or leather material, the inscriptions cover a wide, almost five-century time-period, beginning from the year 1446 and ending in the year 1942. Any efforts to destroy and deform this combination and report of colors, would vanish the beauties of this mosaic, as every efforts of the people to shine their identities would, at the same time, be a shining of all the landscape of the mosaic. Destiny put the Balkan people close and near each other not to quarrel and fight, but to cooperate, to help each-other and to walk side by side through the common historic spaces. The Balkan people have proved together the sweet flavor of the harmony and peace, but also the very bitter taste of conflicts. Balkans is an areal inhabited ...
