Description
Summary:Active layer depth measurements were collected during the 2017 growing season at each Mobile Instrumented System Platform (MISP) located in Utqiaġvik (formerly Barrow), Alaska as well as in Atqasuk, Alaska. At each grid meter two active layer depth measurement were acquired, the date, start and end times, and the people present were also recorded. Active layer depth measurements were taken on the north side of the grid in order to reduce disturbance of vegetation. Data have been corrected by subtracting 0.5 centimeters from measurements made in the field to account for the missing tip of the probe. These measurements are part of the Arctic Observing Network (AON) - International Tundra Experiment (ITEX) initiative and help to document seasonal changes in surface moisture and structure at high spatial scales.
