Description
Summary:The 2016 Photochemical Halogen and Ozone Experiment: Mass Exchange in the Lower Troposphere (PHOXMELT) field campaign was conducted on the Barrow Environmental Observatory tundra near Utqiagvik (Barrow), AK (71 deg. 16.500 N, 156 deg 38.426 W) from March-May 2016. Chemical ionization mass spectrometry measurements of a suite of atmospheric trace gases were conducted at ~1 m above the snowpack. The goal was to examine tropospheric halogen chemistry above the Arctic snowpack during spring through snowmelt in May to improve our understanding of air-snow interactions that significantly influence atmospheric composition. Here we report 1 h average mole ratios of ambient ClO, Cl2, HO2NO2, ClNO2, HOBr, BrO, N2O5, BrCl, Br2, and O3.
