Ablation stake data from Chamberlin Glacier, Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, Alaska, 2016-2017

Chamberlain Glacier surface lowering was observed as a proxy for melt using ablation stakes and interval photography. Stakes were comprised of aluminum conduit were installed at two sites: lower (69.29312, -144.93814; 1772 masl) and upper (69.29031, -144.93134; 1860 masl). Stakes were marked with el...

Stakes were marked with electrical tape every 4 cm. Photographs captured exposed stakes height using Wingscapes Timelapse Cameras (SKU: WCT-00122) set to automatically record every 6 hours. Ablation stake heights were estimated from photographs (April 14, 2016 - August, 11, 2017) at a precision of 1 cm. Heights were noted whenever surface elevation changed significantly, and when lighting and camera angle allowed for a clear observation. Cameras were mounted on tripods constructed of electrical conduit.
