Summary: | The (IdEA) Incubator for Digital Entrepreneurship in the Arctic works with remote Alaskan and Nunavut communities to co-produce transformative, digitally-focused and economically-centered incubator/accelerator programs. It connects Alaskan and Nunavut rural entrepreneurs with markets and social enterprise projects. Specifically, the project created a replicable entrepreneurship program for the Tanana Chiefs Corporation in Fairbanks, Alaska; an arts entrepreneurship and climate change visualization project for Baffin Island Communities (entitled "Our People, Our Climate") and an entrepreneurship training program for the Hamlet of Arviat, Nunavut. The research activities conducted created a) opportunities for economic development, b) technical skills development, and c) culturally specific entrepreneurship training. IdEA seeks to build rural, remote and culturally specific entrepreneurship practices, enabling rural Alaskan communities to develop and apply their unique expertise for the specific purpose of growing and diversifying their economy in alignment with U.S. Arctic Policy.
