| Summary: | The data provided are subsets of the Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR) Polar Pathfinder (APP) 5km dataset. Please see the on-line documentation of the APP products available on the National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) web site for full descriptions of the APP products.Using the daily position of the Des Groseillers, a 21x21 pixel region centered on the ship location was extracted from the standard twice-daily APP grids for all products excluding ice motion and the surface type mask. These twice-daily subsets were then combined into individual flat-binary data files organized as arrays dimensioned as (21,21,ndays), where "ndays" equals the number of days available in the APP time series. One such array was generated for each APP product except ice motion, surface type mask, and orbit mask.
