The research was coordinated around the structure of an archaeological field school which was under the direction of Robert J. Salzer, Associate Professor of Anthropology and Director of the Logan Museum of Anthropology. Site survey techniques were applied to selected portions of the area in question. Limited testing operations were deployed on sites found on the mainland. Simultaneous laboratory procedures were conducted in our field headquarters on the mainland, so that recovered artifactual debris from the mainland and from the island was processed (washed, cataloged, labeled, and examined) within a week after its recovery in the field.
