The work was carried on for the National Park Service by the Smithsonian Institution as part of the Missouri River Basin Survey program. This report includes a survey of Fort Randall, Handy’s Trading Post, Whetstone Agency, Brule Agency, Lower Brule Agency, Fort Recovery and Fort Lower Brule.
